Inspiring Forward: Empowering Youth to Become the Best Version of Themselves

We had the opportunity to engage with Marc Robinson (MR), a dedicated advocate for empowering young men through refined etiquette. Through his commitment to giving back to the youth, he equips them with the skills and confidence needed for effective presentations.

AC: What organization or local cause did you volunteer for?

MR: My son and I participated in a NAACP event to teach underprivileged young men, in high school, how to tie a tie.

AC: Can you please provide an overview of their mission?

MR: Hickory Library’s mission is to promote a high quality of life by providing empowering opportunities and excellent service.

AC: Was this your first time volunteering for this organization or cause? Please elaborate.

MR: This was my first time volunteering in this library, I have volunteered for other libraries previously.

AC: Where there any requirements for this type of volunteerism?

MR: Adult men mentoring and assisting young men in refining their interview skills and personal presentation as they transition beyond high school.

AC: Why did you choose to volunteer here for your Day of Giving?

MR: I want the generations succeeding us to understand that there are individuals who genuinely care about them and their future, regardless of their current circumstances.

AC: Can you tell us about your volunteer experience? What did you do? Did your time volunteering meet your expectations?

MR: We addressed young men on the importance of professionalism, appropriate attire, and cultivating a strong presence. We provided instruction on three different tie styles (four-in-hand, half Windsor, and full Windsor) and distributed over 90 ties through purchases and donations. Our support extended to two local high schools, namely East and Buchtel.

AC: What would you like to share to encourage others to volunteer their time and energy locally?

MR: Contribute and extend support whenever, wherever, and however possible.

AC: Are there any links to the organization, additional educational resources, etc. that you would like to share?

MR: Return the favor and pass on the kindness.
