Inspiring Forward: Small Acts, Big Smiles at Veterans Hill Elementary

For Veronica Rivera (VR), volunteering meant contributing to her son’s school and supporting the children and staff in simple yet meaningful ways.

AC: What organization or local cause did you volunteer for?

VR: Veterans Hill Elementary School.

AC: Was this your first time volunteering for this organization or cause? Please elaborate.

VR: Yes, it was the first time, but I would definitely volunteer again.

AC: Where there any requirements for this type of volunteerism?

VR: To pass a volunteer questionnaire that was in the system.

AC: Why did you choose to volunteer here for your Day of Giving?

VR: To be able to assist and help with the kids.

AC: Can you tell us about your volunteer experience? What did you do? Did your time volunteering meet your expectations?

VR: I was cutting up fruit and was handing out the fruit and water when needed. Yes, it exceeded my expectations, and I had fun doing it.

AC: What would you like to share to encourage others to volunteer their time and energy locally?

VR: I would encourage others to volunteer; it’s always good to have a different perspective in showing a helping hand.

AC: Is there anything else that you would like to share about your experience?

VR: I really enjoyed it and am glad I was able to use my day of giving at my son’s elementary school.

Veronica’s story proves that even small acts, like handing out fruit and water, can bring joy and make a real difference in a community.
