We were delighted to connect with Regin Manlapaz (RM) who actively engaged in the Boerne Middle School South’s Parent Teacher Organization lunch event. Despite it being his first time volunteering for the school, he has played a crucial role by lending his strength during the preparation and distribution of goods.
AC: What organization or local cause did you volunteer for?
RM: I volunteer at Boerne Middle School South – Parent Teacher Organization.
AC: Can you please provide an overview of their mission?
RM: The school Parent Teacher Organization aims to help the school with projects that are not funded by the state or city.
AC: Was this your first time volunteering for this organization or cause? Please elaborate.
RM: This is my first time volunteering in this organization.
AC: Where there any requirements for this type of volunteerism?
RM: The requirement was that you needed to have a child enrolled in school to participate.
AC: Why did you choose to volunteer here for your Day of Giving?
RM: I would like to see the children’s faces getting their much-awaited food that their parents bought online at Chick-fil-A restaurant.
AC: Can you tell us about your volunteer experience? What did you do? Did your time volunteering meet your expectations?
RM: My experiences were very fulfilling. It was all organized, we started by arranging the food and drinks and structured how we could distribute them in a well-organized manner. Using available buckets, I collected some ice from the school coach station and filled the coolers that contained drinks. In the first batch, I distributed the chicken burger sauce while in the second and third batches, I distributed chicken sandwiches.
AC: What would you like to share to encourage others to volunteer their time and energy locally?
RM: I would say I’m very glad that I volunteered on that day. I was the only male in the group. It was a big help lifting those heavy buckets of ice back and forth. Being a volunteer in the distribution of goods allows me to witness the joy of the children receiving their food.
AC: Are there any links to the organization, additional educational resources, etc. that you would like to share?
RM: There is so much joy within me after I volunteered. I was able to make use of my time contributing to the community where I belong. Also, I was able to meet new parents just like me who share the same passion for helping others. I would like to thank Activus for this opportunity allowing me to utilize my time helping the community.
