Inspiring Forward: Seeds of Compassion

We met with Alexis Perez (AP), who shared that she dedicated her time to supporting her mother’s charitable farm by actively participating in gathering eggs from their friendly hens and preparing beehives for honey production.

AC: What organization or local cause did you volunteer for?

AP: My mother has created her charitable farm that produces various types of food to support local families.

AC: Was this your first time volunteering for this organization or cause? Please elaborate.

AP: This is not the first time I have helped out on my mother’s Giving Farm. Over the years, I’ve consistently supported its growth, contributing to producing raw cow’s milk, eggs, and meat. Now, we are constructing bee hives to provide sustainable local honey. This effort aims to offer affordable honey for food and to help those with allergies who might not otherwise have access to such resources.

AC: Why did you choose to volunteer here for your Day of Giving?

AP: I’ve always been driven to help those who might struggle to afford food, particularly with the rising prices in our community and the limited intake of natural, organic foods among many. Bringing a simple smile to someone’s face is incredibly rewarding, especially knowing that all the food comes from healthy, happy animals not confined to large barns.

AC: Can you tell us about your volunteer experience? What did you do? Did your time volunteering meet your expectations?

AP: On this special day, our main goal was cheerful and straightforward: we gathered all the eggs from our lively, friendly hens, and then spent time washing and painting the newly arrived beehives, getting everything ready for our new honey-producing bees.

AC: What would you like to share to encourage others to volunteer their time and energy locally?

AP: Remember, giving doesn’t have to be a grand spectacle. You don’t need large crowds or video cameras to make a difference. Start small—what little things can you do to brighten someone’s day? Even helping just one person a day, or even a week, can make a significant impact.

AC: Is there anything else that you would like to share about your experience?

AP: Working on my mother’s Giving Farm is as beneficial for me as it is for others. My son is acquiring valuable skills and learning patience. He’s developing empathy and improving his agility and comprehension abilities. Helping others not only benefits them, but it also enriches your own life and that of your loved ones. Currently, my mother doesn’t view herself or her farm as an organization; she simply sees herself as someone who loves farming and wants to help the people around her.
