Inspiring Forward: Finding Fulfillment at the Jonesboro Community Food Center

Volunteering is more than just lending a hand; it is an opportunity to create meaningful connections and make a difference in your community. For Adrienne Quinnie (AQ), this journey began at a place that once supported her own family.

AC: What organization or local cause did you volunteer for?

AQ: Jonesboro Community Food Center

AC: Can you please provide an overview of their mission?

AQ: To fight hunger by engaging, educating, and empowering our community.

AC: Was this your first time volunteering for this organization or cause? Please elaborate.

AQ: Yes, this was my first time volunteering with them after using their service.

AC: Where there any requirements for this type of volunteerism?

AQ: They have physical requirements that require you to stand for extended periods and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Age requirements start at 8 years or older, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Dress code is closed-toe, closed-heel sneakers, and work boots are recommended. Bring a jacket with you in case you have to work in the freezer.

AC: Why did you choose to volunteer here for your Day of Giving?

AQ: My sister and I shop here when we need food.

AC: Can you tell us about your volunteer experience? What did you do? Did your time volunteering meet your expectations?

AQ: I had fun working there. All the volunteers there were nice and friendly. I made sure the customer received the right amount of food based on their household size.  It meets my expectations.

AC: What would you like to share to encourage others to volunteer their time and energy locally?

AQ: You can be a part of something bigger than yourself.

AC: Is there anything else that you would like to share about your experience?

AQ: I discovered a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

AC: Are there any links to the organization or additional educational resources, that you would like to share?

AQ: Yes, you can find other volunteer opportunities at the Atlanta Community Food Bank by visiting their volunteer hub.

Adrienne’s experience shows that giving back can spark a sense of purpose and belonging. Whether you are helping distribute food or offering a smile, your time can have a lasting impact.
