Inspiring Forward: Breaking Barriers With Blue Prints and Spring House

Kirstie Alvarado’s (KA) Day of Giving brought her to Blue Prints and Spring House, where she supported young children in exploring farm life and learning in a hands-on way.

AC: What organization or local cause did you volunteer for?

KA: I volunteered at the Blue Prints during their field trip to Spring House.

AC: Can you please provide an overview of their mission?

KA: Their mission is to break barriers and build futures. They provide support to low-income families.

AC: Was this your first time volunteering for this organization or cause? Please elaborate.

KA: This was my first time volunteering for this organization. I have not heard about their organization before.

AC: Where there any requirements for this type of volunteerism?

KA: Some requirements include being 18 and not having a felony due to being around children.

AC: Why did you choose to volunteer here for your Day of Giving?

KA: I chose this organization because Blue Prints is a fantastic organization that helps so many families in need.

AC: Can you tell us about your volunteer experience? What did you do? Did your time volunteering meet your expectations?

KA: For this volunteer experience, I joined Blue Prints, Head Start (early learning school) at their field trip to Spring House. I helped gather the children, explain what they were seeing at the farm. I aided in the children milking a cow, such a cool experience! I also voluteered with snacks and meal times. That included passing out food along with helping children eat and clean up. I volunteered at both the farm and the Spring House (restaurant/processing center).

AC: What would you like to share to encourage others to volunteer their time and energy locally?

KA: Blue Prints is an amazing company to support, along with Spring House. Spring House allows you to get involved with animals and children.

AC: Is there anything else that you would like to share about your experience?

KA: It was a fantastic experience, I am grateful to be a part of. Thank you, Activus Connect, for supporting volunteers!
