We had the pleasure of connecting with Amber Daniels (AD), who assisted in distributing nonperishable items and aiding the elderly at the Dekalb County Local Food Drive.
AC: What organization or local cause did you volunteer for?
AD: I participated in the DeKalb County Local Food Drive, distributing food and clothing essentials to residents within the DeKalb community.
AC: Can you please provide an overview of their mission?
AD: The DeKalb County Local Food Drive aims to provide nourishment for the homeless and create a significant impact on their lives.
AC: Was this your first time volunteering for this organization or cause? Please elaborate.
AD: This is my first-time volunteering for the county of Dekalb. Usually, I dedicate my time to local food drives. It’s truly fulfilling to contribute to our community.
AC: Where there any requirements for this type of volunteerism?
AD: The only requirements while volunteering were to aid and support the elderly, aiding with boxes or any other required help. Ensuring clear and effective communication throughout.
AC: Why did you choose to volunteer here for your Day of Giving?
AD: I chose to volunteer at my local community drive because I once was without food when I was younger.
AC: Can you tell us about your volunteer experience? What did you do? Did your time volunteering meet your expectations?
AD: I had a wonderful time at the food drive! I helped distribute nonperishable items and supported the elderly by assisting with handling boxes, providing transportation, and ensuring everyone departed with a smile.
AC: What would you like to share to encourage others to volunteer their time and energy locally?
AD: Engage in actions that bring warmth both within and without. Let your deeds emanate from the depths of your heart.
AC: Are there any links to the organization, additional educational resources, etc. that you would like to share?
AD: I had a great time. Feels good to know I can change lives!
