For some, helping others is an important part of who they are. We recently met with Marcos Castro (MC), one of our payroll specialists, to learn about his Day of Giving experience.
AC: What organization or local cause did you volunteer for?
MC: I volunteered at Remanso de Paz Church in Moca Puerto Rico with the group Ministry of Women Warriors in the Hands of the Potter.
AC: Can you please provide an overview of their mission?
MC: The mission of this ministry is to provide help to those that have lost a loved one.
AC: Was this your first time volunteering for this organization or cause? Please elaborate.
MC: They do this event once a year, and I have participated every year.
AC: Where there any requirements for this type of volunteerism?
MC: None, other than to believe in Jesus.
AC: Why did you choose to volunteer here for your Day of Giving?
MC: I love helping noble causes, thus I decided to lend a hand. Nowadays, this type of help in Puerto Rico is not as vast as before.
AC: Can you tell us about your volunteer experience? What did you do? Did your time volunteering meet your expectations?
MC: It was a very rewarding and emotional experience. I made sandwiches, took attendance and checked on seating. My help on this day was specific to logistics and event organization.
AC: What would you like to share to encourage others to volunteer their time and energy locally?
MC: It is important to be grateful, empathetic and generous. Therefore, offering help that is of positive benefit for society is very good. So, everyone who likes to serve, help, and give back is a key person to this type of service to the community.
AC: Is there anything else that you would like to share about your experience?
MC: Helping is a unique and very pleasant experience. It enriches your soul and spirit. Also, it makes you grow as a person and value life.
